13 recipes that will make Oatmeal more appealing

This post is more of a function of searching ways to give the Oatmeal a more glamourous avataar. So while we generally eat it this way  Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies and Berry Infused Oatmeal here are a few more that may help in your kids trying it.

1. Five Minute Chocolate Oatmeal: A  breakfast idea for adults and kids. A combination of oats and chocolate is sweet healthy way to start the day. Read more.
For this recipe you require
1 serving rolled oats (40g)
3/4 cup milk of choice
1 ripe banana
1 1/2 tbsp cocoa powder
1/8 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract
extra sweetener if desire

Combine all ingredients and cook, uncovered, over medium-high heat for 5-7 minutes. When it starts to bubble, stir occasionally. Sweeten as desired.

2. Apricot- Honey Oatmeal: You can substitute the apricots for raisins, dried peaches or pears, dried cranberries or blueberries, dried apples, dates. Honey adds a sweetened taste to your bowl of oats. Read more.

3 1/2 Cup(s) Water
1/3 Cup(s) chopped dried apricots
1/4 Cup(s) Honey

In 3-quart saucepan, bring water, apricots, honey and cinnamon to a boil. Stir in oats; return to boil. Reduce heat to medium; cook about 1 minute for quick oats (or 5 minutes for other oats) or until most of liquid is absorbed, stirring occasionally Remove from heat. 1 packet(s) plain instant oatmeal
1/2 Cup(s) fat free or low fat milk
1/2 Cup(s) strawberries, hulled, chopped
1 Tablespoon(s) Honey
1/8 Teaspoon(s) ground cinnamon
1 Tablespoon(s) Walnuts, chopped

Combine first five ingredients in the carafe of a blender. Cover and refrigerate overnight. In the morning, blend the mixture until smooth. Top with chopped nuts.

4. Double Chocolate Oatmeal: Looking forward to a chocolate filled morning, this double chocolate is just the solution and it only takes 5 minutes. Read more.
You will need
1 cups rolled oats
3-4 cups water
¼ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
4 tablespoons cocoa powder
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons ground flaxmeal
a dash of cinnamon
2 egg whites

In a saucepan over high heat, place the rolled oats and salt. Cover with 3 cups water and bring to a boil and cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, adding ½ cup water as necessary as the mixture thickens.In a small bowl, whisk 4 tablespoons water into the 4 tablespoons cocoa powder to form a smooth sauce and add the cocoa sauce and the vanilla to the pan and stir until well combined.Turn the heat down to low. Add the egg whites and whisk immediately and vigorously to get them fully incorporated. (If you go too slow or don’t whisk right away, you’ll get little chunks of egg whites in your oatmeal). The entire mixture should slowly take on a lighter color and fluff up a bit as the egg whites become incorporated and cook. Add the sugar, flaxmeal, and cinnamon. Stir to combine. Remove from heat and serve immediately, topping with powdered sugar or chocolate chips if you want.

3/4 cup old fashioned oats
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
2 tablespoons dark chocolate chips

In a heavy saucepan,combine oats, milk, sugar, and cocoa powder. Bring to a boil over medium high heat, stirring frequently. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, or until milk has been absorbed and the oats have softened. Stir in dark chocolate chips until melted. Divide oatmeal equally between two bowls, splash with milk.

3 cups rolled oats
1 cup milk
3/4 cup Nutella
2 eggs
2 tablespoons ground flax seeds
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup sliced almonds or other nuts or seeds

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Mix together the following ingredients: Oats, milk, Nutella, eggs, ground flax, baking powder, vanilla and salt. Add the almonds and stir. Smooth the mixture evenly in a greased 8″ baking pan and bake at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes until center bounces back when touched. You could also add some cream.

1 cup Whole Milk
1/2 cup Old Fashioned Oats
1 tablespoon Nutella
1 teaspoon Dark Brown Sugar
A pinch of Kosher Salt
Sliced Banana

Heat the milk in a small sauce pan until boiling. Reduce heat  and add oats. Keep stirring, and removing from the heat to stop it from over boiling until the oats have absorbed most of the milk. Remove from the gaas, stir in brown sugar and Nutella. In another bowl, pour it and add the sliced bananas.

8. Refrigerator Oatmeal: This recipe doesn't require cooking and is best eaten cold. So for those hot days, you should probably give this one a try! Read more.

1/4c rolled or steel cut oats
1T flax seeds or more oats
½ cup yogurt or milk or both (yogurt makes it thick, milk makes it thin)

Refrigerator-Oatmeal

Add the oats, flax seeds and yogurt/milk in a jar and shake. Soak overnight in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

1t vanilla
¼ cup melted butter or oil
½ cup fruit puree
The fruit puree - fruit finely grated,
1 ¼ cups milk

Whisk all ingredients except oats in a bowl. Fold in oats and transfer to an 8×8 pan or a muffin tin.If you want to bake it instantly, let the mixture sit for 20-30 minutes before baking at 375 for 30 minutes. If you want to bake later or in the morning, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight. In the morning bake at 375 for 30 minutes.

1 cup quick oats
1 cup low fat milk
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup chopped peaches
1 teaspoon honey, optional

Put the oats, milk, cinnamon, and peaches in a  microwavable bowl. Cook for a minute and take out to stir. Cook for one more minute. Add honey or extra peaches for additional flavour.

1 leek, chopped
1 medium carrot, peeled and cubed
1 medium parsnip, peeled and cubed
1 cup broccoli florets
3 tbsp regular oatmeal

To prepare the leek, remove the root end and take off the thick outer leaves. Trim the rest of the leaves. Cut the leek in half lengthwise and wash both halves thoroughly  in a bowl of water. Chop the leek finely, using the white & the green parts.
Put all of the ingredients (including the oatmeal) into a saucepan and  cover with water. Bring the mixture to a boil.
Simmer gently for around 10-15 minutes, until all the vegetables are tender. Place in a food processor and puree until smooth.
To add flavour,stir a couple of teaspoons of freshly chopped herbs.

13.  Nutella Oatmeal Cookies- Not Baked: Its always good to try something. These not baked cookies taste chewy and are full of chocolate. Read more.
You will need
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon instant espresso
pinch sea salt
1/2 cup Nutella chocolate hazelnut spread
1 1/2 cups quick oats

Add the butter, sugar, milk, espresso powder, and pinch of salt to a small sauce pan and stir. Bring to boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally, about 3-4 minutes. Once the mixture has reached a rolling boil, boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat. Place the Nutella in microvable bowl and heat in the microwave until smooth, in 30 second intervals. Add the Nutella to the sugar-milk mixture and stir until smooth. Add the oats, stirring until the oats are completely coated with the chocolate mixture. Drop the cookies by heaping tablespoonfuls onto a baking sheet lined with waxed paper or parchment and press down slightly with the back of a fork. Sprinkle the cookies with the sprinkles or chocolate chips and press gently. Leave out at room temperature until set, about 30 minutes. Add chocolate sprinkles or chocolate chips for garnish.
