The theatre is making a comeback and there are loads of organizations working to revive this art form. But there is one not-for-profit organization ASSITJE- India, who works hard at providing a platform to educate and entertain children about theatre and acting.
What is Tifli- International Theatre For Young Audiences
Tifli, which means "Bachpan" is an International Theatre for Young Audience (TYA) festival. Tifli is being organized every year by Assitej India in New Delhi. Hyderabad and Mumbai since 2014. At Tifli young audiences come together for workshops and master classes in addition to showcasing national and international performances from five countries - Argentina, France, India, South Korea and the USA. Over 15 plays with more than 100 artists, will be performing multiple times amounting to 45 shows during the festival in Delhi.
What To Look Forward To
The focus of the festival this year is the country France. There are installations introducing children to theatre and French Culture. So there is something for everyone at TIFLI 2017, whether you're in Mumbai, Delhi or Hyderabad.
There is a play designed specifically for toddlers between 2.5 - 5 years. My Room My World. This is in Hinglish - a mix of Hindi and English. They are also showing Water Princess for 5 -11 years and Sleeping Beauty for ages 13 years and above.
Delhi is also hosting a play "Panchatantra Retold" for kids aged 5 and above. There are shows and seats reserved at each event for children coming from the underprivileged backgrounds. Tickets can be booked online and are available at the venue if the play is not sold out.
