So when I started out thinking it will be easy, I am not sure of what I was thinking. Sometimes kids surprise you. When I made my daughter sit on her little pink cycle with the training wheels at the back, I thought she would just start pedalling but really what was I thinking.

I have to tell you I found it really difficult to explain to her that all she had to do was just pedal her legs. I actually duck walked behind her moving her legs up and down so she knew what she had to do and how she needed to do it just hoping nobody would see me doing this. But darn, it was tough.

At some point I did feel like asking her, darling how difficult is this? But I just realized that appreciation will work better than being critical and its ok today is only Day 1 of the project, we have the entire lockdown and summer holidays in front of us and all of us need to know how to entertain the kids while we are stuck indoors!

So here is what I found and this will simplify your process if you are thinking about which bike is the best for your child!

Mistakes parents make while teaching their kids how to ride a bike!

  • Don’t start out on a busy street where kids feel unsafe.
  • Try to avoid using training wheels
  • Make sure it is not an ill-fitted bike
  • Run alongside so they don’t feel insecure
  • Don’t pressure them to go too fast

This is video really helped me! Happy Riding!
