If you are looking for an ideal option for spending your weekend with the kids, we would definitely recommend sailing. We went sailing around this time last year and we were awestruck by the calm sea, the serene surrounding around the waves and the beauty of nature. This was an ideal way for us to bond with our kids over music, sailing and good food.

No. of people:

We were about 5 families with 2 kids each. so a total of 20 people. That's a good number to head out with, coz- the more- the merrier!

Things to carry:

  • Highly recommend carrying ginger ale or other drinks with ginger for those with sea sickness.
  • Do carry sick bags especially when you are heading out with kids.
  • Definitely an extra pair of change clothes for the kids and yourself. When the waves come up splashing, your kids will complain about their dress getting wet- so it is safe to pack an extra set! (Make sure you pack sunglasses and hats that give a pop of colour for some great photo ops!)
  • Medicine kit with all the essentials for you and the kids.

This is possibly the best season to head out sailing and as a parent, I would totally recommend doing this before March. We headed out at about 2.00 p.m. and were sailing for about 4 to 5 hours. The kids loved the overall experience and that's what makes us parents, happy!

It's extremely important for parents to keep a close watch on the kids during sailing as the bumpy rides can get a bit risky. But don't worry- the kids are sure to enjoy this different experience that will make your long weekend happier and more memorable!
